Bio

Ronny Rockel was born in Communist Germany in 1972. When the Berlin Wall came down in 1989 he realized that he wanted to have the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger that he witnessed in the film "Conan the Barbarian." The Berlin Wall may have come crashing down, but significant change was still at the time distant. Rockel who was just a 143 pound teenager at the time did not have access to any commercial gyms in East Germany, but with the fall of the Berlin Wall came a rise in entrepreneurs and soon a brand new gym was opened in Rockel's hometown in Schlema, Germany. Rockel began training and entered his first competition in 1994, only to come in last place.

This finish may have sent others home for good, but Rockel only trained harder and he later came back in 1995 to win the NABBA German Nationals and came in 3rd at the NABBA Mr. Universe. Rockel later won the International German Championships which granted him access to his Pro Card and in 2002 Rockel officially went pro. His life would never be the same. He landed a contract with a nutrition supplement company and moved with his girlfriend to Venice, California.
