A pre-workout supplement by USP Labs
Jack3d - pronounced Jack 3d, or Jacked, depending on who you talk to, was one of the most popular supplements of 2010 and 2011, and we have a new flavor on our hands for this review.
Taste:
Does it taste good? Yes! It was amazing considering how bad most other pre-workout supplements taste. The watermelon flavor was one of the best, if not the best tasting pre-workout energy supplement on the market; Grape was also good. Great job USPLabs!
Serving Size Effectiveness:
Is the recommended 1 scoop actually enough? For this review, the serving size was not effective. We had to go up to 3 scoops, and still felt nothing. We did not want to go beyond 3 scoops, as we felt that should be sufficient for the average person. This was probably the most disappointing of all, as it would bring our "servings per container" down to 15 or less if we wanted to actually get any performance out of Jack3d.
Solubility:
Does Jack3d dissolve well in water? Perfect, it dissolved instantly. You could mix this stuff with a butter knife. Thumbs up.
Defecation:
Does Jack3d make you poop? Yes, as usual (nothing new), we had to use the bathroom within 5-10 minutes of using Jack3d. This is normal, and while it technically is considered a "side-effect", it's caused by caffeine, and is completely normal.
Activation Time:
How long before Jack3d kicks in? On 3 scoops, it activated within 15 minutes.
Sensation Level:
Do you feel anything with Jack3d? Yes, we felt the pins and neelds, or the tingling feeling right around the 15 minute mark. The first time we used Jack3d it gave us the most sensation and performance increase of any product we've ever tested, and for this review we experienced did not experience that level of sensation, but we did feel it.
Duration:
How long does Jack3d last? It averaged 20 minutes or so before we started to fatigue and began to lose the sensation.
Performance:
Does Jack3d actually increase performance in the gym? For this test, we did not notice any increase in strength or performance, but energy levels were above average. Again it was nothing like the first time we took it.
Sleep:
Does Jack3d affect your sleep? No, we took the last scoop of Jack3d at 5:30PM, and noticed no affect on sleep; We slept just fine. One thing to note, we have had sleep issues in the past using Jack3d if we took it after 7PM. No surprise there; we would expect sleep problems if we took it close to bedtime. This is common with most if not all pre-workout energy supplements. It's not recommended to take any type of energy supplement within 4 hours of bedtime.
Final Thoughts:
In the past we have had great results with Jack3d. However, for this particular review of Jack3d (Watermelon Flavor) by USPLabs we were most impressed with the flavor, and least impressed with the performance. For a pre-workout supplement, we expect to "feel" something, and we never did. Considering the "Black Box Warning" on the label we expected and hoped for that "intense sensation", but it was minimal at most. Bottom line, is if you're looking for the best flavored pre-workout supplement, look no further, but if you're looking for the best performing preworkout energy supplement, Jack3d may be as good as it gets for now.
